THE SECRET LIFE OF PROPS

Commercial

A good prop is something you don’t notice - if you do, it’s wrong.

- Spencer Jordan

The Secret Life of Props reveals the extraordinary world behind some of cinema’s most iconic objects, offering an inside look at the magic, mystery, and meticulous craftsmanship that bring stories to life. The campaign invites audiences into the remarkable archive of the Eccentric Trading Company, a treasure trove of props from major film productions.

For nearly forty years, the Jordan family and their “warehouse of wonders” have supplied the film industry with distinctive pieces that shape the tone, texture, and authenticity of a scene. From fine European sculptures to vintage Louis Vuitton luggage, each item is carefully sourced and imbued with its own narrative significance.

Following appearances in countless films and television series, this legendary prop house partnered with renowned auctioneers Lyon & Turnbull to sell a selection of its storied inventory. The campaign aimed to connect these iconic items with the fans who have admired them on screen.

Because the campaign could not explicitly reveal which props belonged to which productions, its creative strategy centred on subtle, clever allusions. Through the development process, we identified three highly recognisable cinematic references that would deliver maximum impact and effectively support the campaign’s objectives.
