We’ll Go Down in History follows TRUK United, a pioneering grassroots football club proudly built by and for the trans community. The film documents the team’s triumphs and challenges, both on and off the pitch, as they cultivate a vital haven of inclusivity and solidarity amid rising transphobia.
In a climate where LGBTQIA+ rights face sustained pressure, this film underscores a simple but essential truth: everyone deserves the right to play the sport they love.
Developed with support from the BFI Doc Society’s Made of Truth fund, dedicated to bold, original non-fiction storytelling that responds to the world as it is changing, this film embodies the spirit and purpose of the programme.
We were pleased to collaborate with Trans On Screen to engage talented LGBTQIA+ creatives across all stages of production. The film was also selected for the British Council’s Five Films for Freedom campaign, screening in more than 10 countries and reaching an audience of over 2.2 million.
We are now in pre-production on a feature-length documentary with TRUK United, continuing our commitment to amplifying vital stories from underrepresented communities.
