KING DICK

Documentary

Step into the raw, hedonistic energy of East London in the 1970s. A world where the modern hen party was born and electrifying male strip shows rocked pubs, clubs and the occasional glamorous venue.

Before Magic Mike, there was “King Dick,” a performer who helped propel male stripping into a cultural phenomenon that captivated audiences and left women across London screaming for more.

Brian Jason’s path to becoming a local legend was far from predetermined. With no clear direction after leaving school, he was expected to join his family’s haberdashery stall in Walthamstow Market.

Everything changed during a chance encounter on the sun-soaked beaches of Kent, where Brian was working as a lifeguard. Doris Bray, gifted with an instinct for spotting untapped talent, noticed him from afar. A brief conversation, an exchanged card, and a single moment of opportunity set Brian on a completely new trajectory.

What followed was a remarkable 30-year career in male stripping, one that cemented Brian’s status as an icon of Walthamstow’s entertainment scene. His legacy lives on in the stories, performances, and cultural shifts he helped shape.

In loving memory of Brian Jason, 1948–2025.
