Sometimes I look into a face and I wonder… Are you the face of my father?

- GRETA
GRETA is a powerful art installation by Nicola Thomas that examines themes of loss, familial connection, and personal tragedy through a richly atmospheric visual language.
Filmed within the iconic Barbican Conservatory, the piece draws deeply from its lush surroundings. New growth in one corner mirrors decay in another, creating a haunting interplay between life and death. This cyclical rhythm of the natural world is rendered with both wonder and unease, inviting viewers to consider the fragility of human experience.
Presented as a multi-screen installation, GRETA offers shifting perspectives in an ever-evolving narrative. Each screen reveals a different version of events, immersing audiences in a layered story that resonates against the tension between the Conservatory’s abundant greenery and the uncompromising lines of the Barbican’s brutalist architecture. The result is an evocative sensory experience that lingers long after viewing.
